Very beautiful country, up there in the north of Spain. Haven't been, myself, but have lived and traveled around the U.S. northern and western states for decades, often coming across views like that. Some more forested, some more steep and not so, um "mature" looking.

The landscapes where you were look very much like parts of the Basque Pyrenees. (I guess it is, on the western edges of the Basque mountain areas.)

Traffic jams in rural Ireland. :)

Their emissions are worse than the traffic jams!

Thanks. Sorry geo location I have it off. We moved inside the red drawn line. I plane the routes on RIDEwithGPS and the cycle map.

best Stefan

Crossing the Carpathian Mountains on the Transalpina.

Into Transylvania

Went up the Transfagarasan as well, clouds at 1700m, rain at 1800, visibility 20m. Second tourist attraction in Romania after Ceauescescu's palace, apparently. Nice mountain pass but a little overrated if you ask me, Jeremy Clarkson called it "nicer than the Stelvio" (roll-eyes). Man needs a bike.

Transfagarasan is nice, but not nice, never on a weekend... too many people driving up there. also start very early to avoid traffic in general.

The photos are so great, generally, that it's almost like going touring when seeing such beautiful scenes and landscapes.

It worked really well to be honest. 45L on my bike and 25L on my friend's bike... and we both agreed we seriously overpacked.

I might even be able to get camping gear in mine next time. We went from hotel to hostel this time because he didn't want to load down his road bike with camping gear.
And if that isn't enough I have a lowrider and small panniers I can put in the front.

This was our initial plan, though we did deviate a bit, but ended up doing 740 km (460 miles) and 6821m (22378 ft.) of climbing in 9 days of riding with some days of walking around the city in between.

Well, almost. We went up to Pas de la Casa after 4 hours of constant climbing the 1400m (4590 ft.) of elevation over 32 km (20 miles) on a 4-11% grade and found out we had another 500 meters (1640 ft.) of climbing to go... and we didn't feel like it anymore. So we quit for the day and took a different route to Barcelona.

Do you live near Andorra Str?

This was the actual route we did:

ohhhh finally the food pictures arrived. ;()))

JaccoW I live in Spain since 30 years, passed Andorra 2-3 times by bike(error!), and some more times in car. Andorra is to me a tarmac and concrete place. but I see that actually you did not pass Andorra. lucky you....

best regards Stefan
