Vermont and Massachusetts were also unreasonably warm at that time. And humid. I went sailing out of Burlington on 9/12 in just shorts and a T-shirt. Never used my cool weather gear until NY.

Doug and indy, it was still a bit early last week when doing this, but up there it's a few weeks ahead of Montreal.
But yes indy, really rather warm wasn't it, humid up here too. I recall one day of 27c, humidex of 32c.

We were already on "Plan B" , when we looked at the weather forecast for the next week: heavy rain Sunday evening and Monday, with showers on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Well, we shifted To "Plan C". We were 3 days from home, and we thought we could get there before the rain. With the forecast winds we would have headwinds going home with gusts to 20 mph. This did not sound like it would even qualify as type 2 fun. I'm not making excuses, I'm just a wimp

Sounds like a pretty grim wet week, would not have had the urge to be riding through it.

Hey all, you folks seem to be having some great bike touring. Im currently car touring in the west, New Mexico. Mixing airbnb and camping. I'll post some pixs later of some great gravel riding I was able to do along the Rio Grande Gorge, ALbuquerque bike paths, Taos and Santa Fe.

FWIW: they take Covid serious out here, quite a bit different from the drive across Okl., Tx., Ark., Tenn., Kent!!!!!!!

If only those walls could speak, what stories they might tell.

I tried to imagine what the scene must have been like. People all gussied up for the Saturday excitement.

Hey those Red Barn steak dinner and dances were HUGE in the 1970s and 80s. But I sure wasn't gussied up, LOL. And it wasn't just Saturdays when it was popular.
The one 33 miles from here was called Lily Lake, with a campground and log hotel as part of the complex. Steak dinners and C+W music mostly. The Emerald's were the big thing and the Irish Rovers songs. My brother loved them. We had a family get together or 2 around when my sisters were getting married, a month apart in 1975.
The last few years I've done some bike rides up there. The whole place has been near dead for years. The lake was just a slough really.
Actually, tavern life died in the 1982 economic crash. Haven't seen a bar brawl since. LOL.

I just found out it got a new owner in 2017, who fixed up the campground and was doing OK until covid crashed things again. They did lots of weddings over the years.

^^^^^^^^^^ What good is a bike speedometer with only 1 decimal point?? Pfffft ... Impossible to calibrate for another thing. You can't even see a 10th of a mile away.
I had a oops 10 years ago and bought a Bontrager one the same. One ride and it was gonzo. Hated the damn frame attachments too. They haven't changed either, AFAIK.

Are you serious? A tenth of a mile is only 528 feet (0.161 km). Heck, not far from where you live you can watch your dog run away for 3 days, unless the grass is too tall On some of the Great Lakes or the ocean you can see a boat up to about 7 miles away before the curvature of the earth blocks the view.

I think it is also possible close to where I live, Oregon's High Desert, to see that far,

You calibrate at home by taking measurements and doing a little math. Checked it against road mile markers. If anything it was undereporting.

I don’t know what happened that day in the Berkshires. Maybe some sort of electrical interference? The unit is wireless. Had never happened before and hasn’t happened since.

BTW...Also notice my PGS--Paper Guidance System--device. Never needs charging.

We also use Cateye bike computers, but it is the Strada model. We have also had similar experiences with ours. Once we blamed it on leaning the bikes against a Utility box, and another was leaning it right under an electrical panel. We've also had a couple that we could not figure out. It only seems to affect the Max speed. Otherwise, they are a good dependable computer.

However, they don't take rough treatment well. I crashed on a busy road, and did not notice that my computer popped of the bike and landed in the traffic lane.
