Sierra de Gredos is nice! Well ... all Spain is incredible for rural tarmac and off road touring!

It was pretty hot there now too (40° in Merida). Luckily there was a fuente about 3km from the top. I always carry a strip of purifying tablets in Spain, just in case.

Take a look at Puerto de Mijares in street view you if you feel like. That one is even more remote. just included it in my summer tour (if it will happen

I started in Bordeaux, France. The weather was terrible on the Basque coast so I took a train from Irun to Salamanca. From there to the sierra de francia, down to Caceres and back north because of the heat . Right now I'm in Segovia, plan a ride in the Sierra de Guaderrama tomorrow and then I'll continue in the direction of Soria and probably San Sebastian.

Great! Maybe go to the Picos de Europa, Montaña Palentina, Saja Besaya .... great places. Have you been at Portillo La Lunada? very beautiful, also Asón and Collado de Espina / Los Machucos
