New map for Pittsburgh - DC bike trip
There's a new bike map out (in the format of a AAA TripTicket, for folks that remember those) for Pittsburgh to DC via the GAP and C&O Canal Trail. I've built the map, and Golden Triangle bikes is publishing it.
Proceeds support Operation Safety Net, which provides streetside medical care to the homeless.
Here's a link about the map: Great Allegheny Passage Information - GAP Outfitters
It's also available on Amazon:
thanks!

Every day a winding road
Looks really nice. Good size, should fit nicely into most map pockets. I little pricey IMHO but from a resource point of view might be a better value than the traditional trail guide. The trail guide is a great history book but not a very good resource for services. But then again I have not seen the latest edition.

thanks! it is more expensive - mostly due to the cutting, folding, binding. This is a technical resource as opposed to the Trail Book.
We really liked the idea of supporting Operation Safety Net with this project. There's a symmetry in folks who are outside for a week by choice helping folks who live outside that appealed to me.

Nice job.
Did you mention the killer's house from "Silence of the Lambs"? The house used in the film is just across the Yough in Layton. Sorry, but the basement scenes were shot in a different location. I may ride the GAP again this year during a cross-PA tour. Definitely want to check it out.
It puts the TriFlo on its chain or else its drivetrain squeaks again.

When I read the subject line, my first thought was "Do you really need map?" Let's see, here are the turn by turn directions: don't turn. Now, a guide could come in handy. Hope it sells well. I'm not in your target market, but no doubt there is a niche to fill.

There are actually some turns on the GAP, but they were easy enough to follow without a map.

No, I didn't mention the Silence of the Lambs house. It's been for sale, they've had trouble selling it at $250K, I read it sold at #195K. Home of killer in 'Silence of the Lambs' sells for $195,000 - The Morning Call
Didn't mention Shirley Jones' childhood home in Smithton either. It's hard to know, like the song says, "what to leave in, what to leave out". I tried to focus on things people riding the trail would need to know.
