Naming the Ride

Do you guys name your rides? I named my 2015 west-east ride across America, because it gets old saying "2015 west-east ride across America".

I'm riding across America from south to north this time and I'm having a hard time coming up with a good name. Here's the route. The best I've come up with is ****- Two-Wheeled American Tour.

On a more serious note, anybody have any good tips for naming a ride? I haven't come up with anything good so far and I might just call it something boring like NBT for Northbound Bike Tour. I guess that's easy enough to remember and it gets the point across.

I sometimes do after I create an album on Flickr. My SD tour I ended up dubbing "A Black Hills Matter". My recent tour home to Philly from Vermont I named "Quality Time with Nana" because I spent a lot of time in my granny gear.

For yours, how about "Up the Gut"?

The Teal Trio Tour, when I noticed all 3 of my girls were wearing teal on one of our tours.

It depends on who you are naming it for. If it is for a blog, some geographical reference might be good. If you are naming it for you or the participants, use whatever you want.

Bikes: I tour on a Waterford Adventurecycle. It is a fabulous touring bike.

I always write a journal of my tours. I am always looking for a catchy title.

Sometimes, it comes to me as I am riding. Other times, I come up with it while I am planning. Occasionally, I just pick a descriptive title.

Either way, try to pick something that actually describes what you did. Otherwise, your readers will be unsure what the journal is about and, possibly, not read it.

I print out my packing list and write the date and area, along with the bike ridden. That way I have a ready to go packing list for a similar trip in the future. For example, "California 2016 World Troller." That way I don't have to figure out what I meant. "Searching for gold along the road south" may sound more interesting, but whatever. Also, I'm not into writing journals, so it really doesn't matter what I call the trip.

I called my last tour WECANRIDE 2016 as a play on Western Canada and We can ride (as in us together) because it was an awareness ride across Western Canada.

Maybe the next awareness one will be called SOLOCAN 2018 as I plan to go all the way across then.
