Ok, one more. Bahia Honda state park in Florida Keys, February 17 of this year. But, with paved highway access for the entire two week trip it was not really an expedition in my definition of that word.

This year there were a couple of young deer that would wander through during the mornings and evenings. One was a buck just getting his little antlers.
The host told me that a few years ago a very snow winter drove down mountain lions from the higher elevations during spring. One killed a resident deer in the campground. Now there is a piece of driftwood on the shore. When the host first saw it he thought it was a deer killed by another lion. It wasn't until he got six feet away that he realized it was just a piece of wood. I went down to see it and was amazed. It looks exactly like a soggy deer carcass. Should have taken a photo.
