he/she looks at all this and thinks, "what a bunch of fricken nutbars, arguing over teeth and such" ;-)
I would hope though that Mr Goater has gotten some good ideas/suggestions/opinions, as at least he was engaged in all our entertaining drivel.

As a follow-up, I put on the Sunrace 11/36 cassette. Total capacity for my RD is 43. This cassette would bring it to 45. I mounted it, did a bit of tweaking on the stand and rode it 31 miles today. Initially I started getting what felt like slipping, or was it the pully wheel contacting the big ring? Finally decided it was actually and indexing issue and an adjustment with the barrel adjuster seemed to fix it. That was in the first 3 miles so on for the next 28 miles, there was no issue. I rode every front ring on every rear cog, big-big, small-small, didn't matter. Of course I won't ride like that, just wanted to test it, but it seems to be working just swell!
And it made what I would call a SIGNIFICANT difference. Going up those long grades is slower now but oh so much easier on the knees/legs. I believe this just may be sufficient!

the chain length could very well be just a bit too short. I do recommend that you do the test to see if its ok. It might be alright, if the chain length was a bit long for the 32 cassette, but unless you really know that the length is good, don't do that large-large combo again, the potential for expensive repairs is pretty good....
I say this in case you just put the original chain on.
re the pulley wheel touching, the best way is to improvise a bike stand to raise your bike off the ground, so you can pedal it, this way you can see how things look back there. Again, look up youtube videos on B screw adjustment , this will give you a good grounding on messing with it and what messing with it actually does. Im not expert, but a teeny bit of rubbing or whatever is ok, maybe not rubbing, but a sound of it contacting the big cog. Ive noticed that you may hear a slight sound in a quiet room, but in real life riding you wont hear it, and its ok.
If not sure, get a proper mechanic to check it out, it iwll be a 2 min check for him or her to do, and to adjust it properly if need be. Same with the chain length, although thats an easy one to do, even easier if you have a quick link on your chain.
cheers
and yes, this forum is great for learning stuff, Ive learned loads over the years.
