Looking for ideas for a self-guided bike tour in Croatia for September, with little to no single track, no camping. Loop preferred but willing to try route types it you think it's worth it...

Another option is Dubrovnik-Mostar-Split-Dubrovnik:
The Ciro trail from Dubrovnik to Mostar (Bosnia)
Mostar-Split inland over quiet roads
Islandhopping from Split back to D., eg riding the length of Korçula and Mljet islands, ferries in between.
This is assuming you like visiting old cities/heritage and have no problem doing a little climbing — Croatia is mountainous. Some people don't mind taking the coastal road (EV8) but I strongly advise against, crazy traffic, very unpleasant, downright dangerous. September is not off season anymore.
Islandhopping is even easier in the northern part of the country, between Istria and Split. These islands are not as hilly, but lots of places are very touristy (not off season etc).

Thank you... and I am sorry to hear September is no longer shoulder season!Originally Posted by CMAW

Have not been there. But one thing is for sure, avoid the coast, too much ugly tourist infrastructure, go inland.
Hi!
Look for a YouTube channel called "cobranco". The guy is a bikepack fanatic, he's got several long (even 3 hours or more) videos from Switzerland to Greece, all over Europe. These trips sometimes take 2-3 weeks, and he makes proper videos with interesting content. He's got a few even from Croatia, maybe you should watch them to get some ideas, inspiration. The videos are in hungarian but with auto generated english subtitles you'll understand almost everything.
