Once we get into an area with more grocery stores we'll be able to get more oils and butters, but it's hard to carry that stuff when you have to carry ten days' worth of food! Only 280 more miles on the Alaska Highway...

HA!! God knows we're lugging around pine cones and sticks and rocks for all of us!! That video is great, isn't it? Both John and I get the biggest kick out of watching the kids play!

I was at a Trader Joe's today and picked up unsweetened dehydrated bananas. They were amazingly delicious! They didn't taste like dried banana chips or like flattened bananas - they are a different breed altogether. Easy to eat and not at all messy. If you could find some of these I bet they'd be a hit.

I've used coconut oil in the past. In hot weather, the solid block will melt. If you're going to carry some, make sure you have it in a secure container where it can't leak.

We are now in populated country, and shouldn't have any more of those long 300-mile sections of nothing!! I think we've all gained weight in the last couple of days - this area has wined us and dined us like I never imagined!!
