The 2008 election brought us a change in leadership in DC. The challenge in 2009 is making that change a reality for the issues we all care about. But it won’t be easy. From energy to health care, entrenched special interests are working overtime to protect the status quo. That’s where we come in. We will work from the bottom up to change politics as usual in DC as we get results on critical issues.
The Progressive Voter Network (PVN) is currently hiring Field Organizers and Lead Organizers for our national volunteer organizing network. Field Organizers will work in targeted Congressional districts to recruit, train, and manage these crucial networks of volunteers. Specifically, Field Organizers will:

• Recruit volunteers through phone calls, emails, individual interactions and community events.
• Train volunteers in key organizing skills, including organizing a district meeting with their member of Congress, holding a press conference or generating grassroots support on a particular issue.
• Manage and mobilize volunteers by meeting weekly with lead volunteers to plan upcoming campaign tactics in their district, ongoing volunteer recruitment and training.

Lead Organizers will manage Field Organizers, providing ongoing training and direction.
Qualifications We are looking for passionate, dedicated, responsible people who are willing to work hard to achieve positive change. Experience with campaigns, building and leading groups, and recruiting and training volunteers are preferred, but not necessary.

IMHO Ryan is the first bike tourist to go viral and it is greatly thanks to the bikeforum. Has this ever happened to another touring cyclist? Not in my research.

Do you think Obama would be willing to push the inauguration out about 6 months or so? Because this thread is going to end in about 10 short days! Something must be done! I don't want to see it end! :)

"Riding to myrtle beach SC today with a group of 3. Josh is really moving now, keeping up with us @ 20mph!"!

He has some cold weather gear.
He rode in 35* temps coming crossed Texas.

Will we be able to track him on his flight home on Air Force 1? :)

He has got to be riding with SAG support. I find it hard to believe that someone can keep up a 20 M.P.H pace loaded.

Even with the various car lifts, he's got a lot of miles under his belt in a short period of time. Plus he's a youngster! It's possible.

Hey Spin, it could be a prank like I pulled on my touring buddy one time. We had stopped for lunch and while he was away from his bike, I reset his computer to a larger wheel factor. It wasn't long after we took off again, he looked over to me and smiled and mentioned how well he was riding and how that break must have really refreshed his legs because of the excellent time we were making. I of course played along acting though as I was struggling to keep up and kept asking him to slow down a little. Well he was all grins for the rest of the afternoon. Of course you know what's coming, that evening I reset his computer again so it would run slow and the next day he couldn't figure out why he was pulling so hard to keep the same speed as the day before when he knew we weren't up against any major head winds. Well by mid morning, I had to confess to my mischief because the pace he was setting was going to kill me. Truth be told, Ryan could be getting that 20 mph, if he's got a good breeze at his back.

Actually I have maintained 24 or 25 on a level surface loaded. I had a heck of a breeze at my back, it was pretty amazing.
