He has got to be riding with SAG support. I find it hard to believe that someone can keep up a 20 M.P.H pace loaded.

A link to a Fox News clip on Ryan's progress. :)
Hope it works. http://www.foxnews.com/video-search/...tch.htm#q=Ryan |
Glad to see he is doing OK.

Ryan refers to Fred; "an older gentleman who has inspired him and has ridden over 11,000 miles".

Curious, does anyone know exactly how much of the LA to DC he actually biked? Not bashing, just wondering.

I don't think there's anything definitive that anyone can say.. Only definite was that he certainly did the Los Angeles to Phoenix hop in a car to start the trip. Admitted multiple rides in the TX to LA area. Anything else I'd just chalk up to speculation. I haven't done the mileage math nor will I bother to try.

Yes, there's no need to bother, since only cheering and cheerleading is allowed.

However much of it was ridden, it's still quite the accomplishment. I'm in the middle of three day tour in sub-freezing temperatures and icy roads. I keep thinking while I'm riding, Ryan is dealing with this a lot more frequently than I am.

Regardless of the details of the journey, he has done it. I just saw an interview on Fox, and he says he is even getting a ticket from an Oregon representative. He also alluded to a possible book. With the tenacity and temerity he has shown he may go far.

With respect, I don't think that's accurate; read the rules about posting on this forum. It might be good if you reminded yourself of this so you don't need to post what you said (just a suggestion).
Anyway, I too would be interested in hearing about the mileage content -most especially from a CYCLING perspective.

I too would like to hear about a report on his mileage spent cycling, in a television interview and in the proposed book. After all , it was the journey that was the adventure. It doesn't matter how you get there. So then it shouldn't matter that it is a part of the story. I think it would actually make the story more interesting. |

The meaning of the word "only" must have changed since I last looked in the dictionary then! Nowhere does it state "only cheering and cheerleading allowed" in the guidelines; I'll be more than happy to apologize if you point me to where it does. Until then, I'll reiterate your post was not accurate and you didn't need to post it.
That's it, I'm back to cycling.

That's it, I'm back to cycling. Thread has officially slipped into theatre of the absurd. |
Perhaps he can answer that one! He posted it, not me.

I also see with all your eagerness to post about Ryan you're suddenly reticent to answer the question of what you meant? I'll gladly take this through the email if you wish to answer or point me to where it states what you stated in the forum guidelines. Yes, let's get back to cycling.:)

Maybe not properly stated to your satisfaction but it is 100% accurate just look at the rules on this thread posted by the mods, a few posts up.

I'd find a book on this tour, or any tour, interesting, provided: 1. the author was truthful and straightforward about the ride; 2. the author buckled down and worked hard on his prose, and avoided the 'once and done' syndrome; 3. the author avoided ramming his political philosophy into his writing. This feeds back into point 2. I think Ryan is entirely capable of writing a good book on the ride. If he chooses to, of course. |

OK, this is the last time I'm going to say this. The thread was pulled for a bit of cleanup. How Ryan does his tour is how he does his tour. keep the sniping to yourselves. If you want to wish him luck, that's fine. If you would like to help him out, that's fine. if you have real information that will actually help him, also fine.
Politically charged, or insulting comments, or snipes, or ripping on him if he dares to grab a ride for a period? Not gonna fly. It's HIS tour. Let him achieve it however he does it. if you don't want to help him, that's also cool, just try not to hinder him or beat up on him. That's a complete and total lack of respect, so review the guidelines about respect, all of you. Thanks Tom Administrator |

me see the beauty of that picture?" asked the Attorney-General. "No!" [Whistler] replied. "Do you know I fear it would be as hope- less as for the musician to pour his notes into the ear of a deaf man." |
