Hi, my dad and I are thinking of cycling from Kashgar to Islamabad in the near future, however we arent sure how long it should take. Does any one have any idea? or has anyone done it?

ive loooked at blogs but most seem to go the other way and/or take the bus at some point so i cant really tell from them

kkh = Karakorum Highway. It is truly spectacular. I have done it, but by car. I am trying to remember but I think it was four or five days by car. It is 1300 km from Islamabad to Kashgar. I met several bicyclists...A couple from England who had flown into Islamabad and taken a bus part way up. Another guy from England who had started in Indonesia and eventually wanted to get to Nepal.

There is a lot of uphill with thin air. The Kunjerab Pass is over 15,000 feet and I had trouble getting out of the car for lack of oxygen. I think I was there in June...The pass often doesn't open until late in spring or early summer. A lot of the road on the PK side travels along the Indus Gorge or its tributaries...One of the great rivers of civilization. There are a lot of rough spots because of the harsh winters and the snow, land and rock slides. You will be almost as fast as the cars and trucks.

You will love it, especially on the Pakistan side (where it will also be mostly downhill for you).
