If you are a Yank, immigration will not stamp your passport but give you a short term visa. It's the most important thing you will have during your trip and it would be very very expensive and time consuming to replace.

It's a wonderfull bike touring island and if you know some Spanish you will have a great experience.

I do speak a fair amount of Spanish and I am not American, so I am good there!

Do you have any prefered routes? I have about 5 weeks and I plan on landing in Havana and leaving from Holguin.
