On a tour on the Allegheny River Trail last week, I, JAGraham, and a friend missed the designated primative campsite on the trail south of Kennerdell Tunnel and wound up camping at a spot a half mile further. The official site was overgrown, which explains why we missed it. The site we chose had a picnic table and a fire ring.
Anyone else ever wind up stealth camping by accident?

I had this happen to me when my train got in late and had to go to a state park that only had day use facilities.
Went behind the office to camp out and left before staff showed up in the a.m. There was nowhere elso to go

Technically stealth camping is always intentional, since you could have stopped there and not stealth camped, orange jumpsuits, great big fire. It's a choice to be stealthy about it. If the question is has any one overshot a campsite, or camped somewhere unexpected...

I've woken up to discover that my bike was leaning against a "no camping" sign...

I stealth camped in a city park, late at night (or early morning) after being fed many beers in some small town in the middle of Kansas one time. When I woke up, the pool was open and there must have been 300 people there.
Well, it was stealth camping when I went to sleep anyway....

Let me guess... down the road a piece there was a cabin with a porch. There were some inbred rednecks playing banjos. Dueling Banjos was the tune? That gives me the willies...Originally Posted by The Historian
