Bikes: 2006 Surly LHT / 2003 Look KG 461 / 1993 Novara Corsa / Trek 4300 / Handsome Devil / Cannondale ST 600

Just curious, how much of the frames were you both able to cover?

Can you see all the water bottle mounts?
That bike is super cool. It's awesome that it'd mostly used parts.

1990 Merlin Titanium Tourer

Well this thread seems like a great way for me to end up spending all of my money. There are some really awesome rigs in here and I want to buy or build everything I see. Thanks? I'll update this post after I have the requisite 10 posts to add pictures but wanted to get it started (it also helps me get to that magic number I reckon) Picture below!
  • 1990 Merlin titanium frame
  • Campagnolo Veloce triple crankset (46,39,28)
  • Phil Wood bottom bracket spindle
  • Shimano deore xt rd, 9 speed, low-normal/rapid rise (don't judge)
  • Shimano 105 triple FD
  • Shimano 9 speed cassette 11-34
  • Mavic XC 717 26"(559mm) wheels, 32 hole rim-brake, laced to shimano deore xt steel hubs
  • Shwalbe Marathon Plus 40x559 tires
  • Giles Berthoud 26x50 Stainless Fenders
  • Shimano XTR v brakes
  • Brake booster (rear)
  • Blackburn rear rack
  • Arkel T42 rear panniers
  • Brooks B17 Saddle
  • Topeak Road Morph frame pump
  • Stashers insulated top tube bag
  • Ornot mini handlebar bag
  • Nitto B135 45cm handlebars
  • Tektro RL520 v brake levers
  • Custom 3d-printed bar end shifters
  • Delta stem riser
  • Dimension steerer adapter
  • Velo Orange Grand Cru sealed bearing headset
  • Topeak front rack
  • Carradice Super C front panniers
  • Carhart tool roll
  • Clickstand bike stand
  • TiGr titanium mini ulock
I think that's everything!

Most of the people in the picture have three bottles of water. Has anyone tried the system where one bottle has isotonic and the other two have water in them?

What is isotonic? If it's mixes, then yes, but you always have to be careful to wash that one out or over days and heat, stuff starts growing in the bottle.

How can you tell what's in the bottles simply from the photos?

Never tried.... sounds very interesting!
In my case the third bottle is most of the time empty, it's only full of water when sleeping outside at remote places.

Found this NOS Saga frame at a local shop. I’d been in asking about touring bikes and no one even knew they had it. Was in the store another day and looked up and this frame was hanging about twenty feet up the wall. Correct size and never built up. My eyes popped out of my head. Got it for $500 CAD. Parts are mostly Old Shimano deore dx and lx, and various other cannibalized parts. I’ve switched to trekking bars and platforms since. Crazy comfortable bike.

Well Mr muse, very pretty area. Must have been fun.
Your seat is quite radically slanted forward. I suspect you don't believe this, but the reason 99% of cyclists use a more level seat is to have less pressure on the hands and a more neutral seating position, while still comfortable for the tackle.
Consider trying leveling it out some time.

3/4 loaded. Gave the gravel bags a test ride checking for heel strikes. Negative, good to go. Last is to attach sleeping bag and tent on top of the rack. Overnighter in the near future.

I've been tweaking my set-up for a slightly more remote trip this summer.
Bike is a 2021 Orro Terra C with Sonder Spitfire flared handlebars
Fulcrum rapid red 900 wheels with 40mm Hutchinson Touraeg tyres.
Topeak backloader 15 litre saddlebag
Topeak toploader top tube bag
Custom made frame bag from bike-bags uk. There is a 3 litre apidura frame bag hydration bladder inside
Altura vortex 5 litre handlebar bag
BTR 2 litre accessory bag attached to the handlebar bag
Drivetrain is a mix of components- Shimano 105 R7000 shifters and hydraulic disc brakes
FSA 46/30 chainset
Shimano Deore M5120 rear derailleur (paired with a Jtek shiftmate to make it work with road shifters) and an 11-42 cassette at the rear.

Cool looking bike, but you know what's the coolest thing on it?

The bar tape! Never seen that before-snazzy.

UK company called Cycology. They have all sorts of different prints for their clothes and bar tape. Not a bad price either.
