Here's my Rocky Mountain Sherpa loaded up for a weekend tour. Killer bike right out of the bike shop. I call this bike a hand-built bargain but that's a true understatement.
Cheers,

Bikes: The keepers: 1969 Magneet Sprint, 1971 Gitane Tour de France, 1973 Raleigh Twenty, 3 - 1986 Rossins.
Here's my two - I divide my time between a my current affectation, taking a hard nose/hard tail mountain bike and converting it to pavement and packed trail riding - a 1993 Bianchi Nyala:

and my love for the traditional - a 1969 Dutch Magneet Sprint, a typical low level pre-Bike Boom mass market bike upgraded for long distance running. Yes, I'm still a believer in steel cottered cranks, although I'm starting to look for a three ring TA setup:

Bikes: Bruce Gordon Ti Rock N Road [1989], Fat Chance Mountain Tandem [1988], Velo Orange Neutrino (2020)
My 1989 Bruce Gordon Ti RNR setup for the Divide Ride 2003. Beckman panniers on BG racks. I have been very happy to ride this bike on any terrain only limited by my handling skills.

Bikes: 87 Fuji Touring Series IV that I am in love with and an underused Mid 90's Raleigh M20 I brought back to life with the parts of other dead bikes.

Heres my baby, four days before I leave for my tour from Ohio to Oregon.
Her name is Josephine and she's a Fuji Touring Series IV.

You must be a young 'un.
Its not too long ago that nearly every Sports/Racer bike had gear shifts there. Downtube shifters.

Armstrong continued to use those on his climbing bike in the TDF up untill the end, since it shaved a few more grams off his bike's weight.

Well I'm in my 20's, but I have only been into the scene for about 7 years. Now that you call them 'Downtube Shifters' (which makes sense) I have heard of them, just never seen them!
