US 64 -- Is it ridable?

I am planning out a cross country route, and am considering linking up with US 64 in Chattanooga, Tennessee in order to head west towards Memphis, and beyond. Does anyone have experience with this road? If the entire route is not ridable, are there stretches between these points that are?

Thanks for any help.
