Bikes: specialized crossroads hybrid 2006 Raleigh Cadent 2 1971 Schwinn Varsity, 1972 Schwinn Continental, 1977 Schwinn Volare (frame)

Almost the same bike except for a few odd components for half the price.https://www.bikesdirect.com/products/windsor/tourist.htm

stringbreaker, I know, but I haven't seen the Fuji mentioned before and many new touring bike riders are older and some probably had high quality Fuji road bikes.

The Fuji (and the BD version) are fine (a friend has the Fuji). The only issue that I've heard is about the wheel builds. If people go with these, they might consider having somebody go over the wheels.

I have the 2008 Fuji Touring. I've put about 10,000 miles on it. I love it and while it is my main ride, (long-distance commuting, touring, centuries) it has popped a few spokes. I'm not a big guy (150lbs) but I've had to replace probably 9-12 of the rear spokes over the last three years.

The 2011 model doesn't have STI levers: https://www.fujibikes.com/bike/details/touring

I prefer bar end shifters anyway.

The wheels on my windsor were not true when I got it so after I got the bike together I took it to my LBS guys and they trued the wheels and checked everything out for me. Told me it was all skookum.
