I'm not familiar with RV's, but I imagine there are some nasty jobs involved with maintaining those. If so, then you could pass out cards (makes you look much more professional) at public campgrounds offering to do the work. Private campgrounds would probably either prohibit such solicitation outright or put all sorts of obstacles in the way, like making you post the card on a bulletin board and then wait around for people to call, which is impractical on a tour.
In general, there are lots of nasty cleaning jobs that you can offer to do. In populated areas, illegal immigrants do those jobs. But whereever there are no illegal immigrants, then you should have little trouble getting work, even in the current recession. Being on a bike allows you seek out the areas with work to be done but no illegal immigrants to compete with.
Unlike some of the other people on this forum, I am quite sympathetic to people wanting to tour on little money, as long as they don't do so in a way as to give bike tourers a bad name. I am financially set myself, but I am quite aware that many people are facing economic difficulties nowadays and there simply aren't jobs available that pay enough to allow saving for a tour. Unless you are a member of the rentier class, this is still the Great Recession, with no end in sight.

Always on these forums are dollar-per-day figures brought up. I've found in my personal experience that they are always on the high side [for me]. I don't hotel/motel/hostel, and if you're able and willing, food *can* be inexpensive. I'd like to also add that I am a foodie, and refuse to eat instant ramen or any kind of nonsense like that. Touring is the most affordable mode of transportation, but can easily be made the most expensive (save first-class airlining, I suppose).

Really??
You know the people you walk by in cities who are singing or playing an instrument or entertaining the people passing by in some way ... they are busking. If they are good enough or have the right location they can bring in a reasonable sum of money.
