Mixte framesets

I found this Origin 8 Mixer frameset:
https://www.origin-8.com/?page_id=91&...26+ACCESSORIES

and this Intec T7 frameset:
https://www.bike-x-perts.com/en/produ...ucts_id/461739

They're both steel framesets. But, the Origin 8 can't use V-brakes. And the Intec has a weird dropout that kind of scares me. I mean it has this bolt that you can screw. However, it can take V-brakes and is available in yellow.

Does anyone know of any mixte framesets available in yellow, can take V-brakes and are available in steel and no weird dropouts? By the way, if I wanted to go with the Origin 8, then what kind of compromises are we talking about? Would I be able to use fenders wide enough for 700x40 tires? Would I need Shimano flat bar group brake levers?

Do a search. There was a thread about that Origin 8 frame. I remember there were some issues and some of the welds were ugly.

hybridbkrdr, The rear dropouts are just the older horizontal style on the Intec.

Does anyone make a mixte frame that's not steel? I don't know if I've ever seen one. I think your options are pretty limited. I haven't seen the Origin8 frame in person, but I'd be pretty shocked if you could fit 40c tires and fenders into the caliper brakes you'd have to put on there - I imagine they take a medium reach brake at most, and you'd probably be limited to 28c with fenders. Soma makes a mixte frame that I've looked at at the LBS which is pretty nice, and looks like you can squeeze 32c tires with fenders if you're comfortable with small clearances. The Soma takes caliper brakes. And yes, you can use road levers with any of the brake options on any of these frames.

You could get bigger tires on by using 650B wheels and a longer reach brake, though you'd want to do some research and measurements to make sure whichever frame can fit what you want to put on.

The Intec's dropouts, indeed, are standard horizontal dropouts. Some don't like them, because it takes about 10 more seconds to get your wheel aligned and straight after you've fixed a flat - I think they're great, and give you a lot of flexibility on what drivetrain you'll use (derailer geared, single speed/fixed, internally geared). I also can't think of any other new production mixte frame that has cantilever posts - and would be surprised, again, if such a thing existed.

'Mixte' is specific 2 thin tubes run from front top of head tube,
to back near rear dropout.

so the Intec T7 frameset is not really a mixte ..

Step thru is a better category, with more options of frame details.

then you will have more choices ..

you can get really specific, if you hire the frame built for you,
rather than take what is Imported.

Trek Belleville WSD looks like a good bike and is probably a lot stiffer than the older mixte frames looking at the size of the down tube.

Are the mid fork rack eyelets in a good place on the Belleville? They look like they are in a weird place for low rider racks.

Re Belleville: There is one on the LBS floor, here , will try to measure
next time I go By.

Its an IGH bike , so a different IGH, like an 11 speed Shimano
rather than the 3 speed stock wheel may get the job done ..

the front rack can hold a lot of stuff, maybe a duffle bag with the stuff in it?

bars are 1 piece with the stem. so may need replacement..

on a previous tour bike , I made an adapter to make up for a boss/rack
mount mismatch, It worked well for a 4 month tour, a loop
from Amsterdam to Warsaw and back, via England, Norway and Denmark.

I have a vintage peugeot mixte that would have room fenders and wider tires, 38mm maybe. It's heavy but since it was a Canadian made peugeot I think it has standard threading, so you could likely update one of those easily, but they are heavy and have really relaxed geometry; I have no clue how it'd handle as a touring rig but it served me well for a few weeks of winter commuting last year when I was in a pinch waiting for parts.

I don't think I've ever seen an aluminum mixte but a quick google led me to the specialized live 2, a mixte frame that has bent middle stays, but I guess it's still a mixte. Linus also offers a mixte bicycle but I dunno if they sell framesets or anything like that. Might be better off going custom or hunting down a high quality mixte from the 80s.

I would rather go with the Soma Buena Vista than any of the above.
