Regarding the Ohio Pyle ... why not cycle there this weekend if it is that close?
I think I'll make the Ohio Pyle ride my test tour on Labor Day weekend! It'll be a great way to get the feel of the slight grade the GAP has going east bound (I live about 20 minutes from the West Newton GAP access.)

I'd think a few hours in Ohiopyle would be plenty unless you decide to go rafting. There really isn't all that much to see in town, at least that was my impression after have been there hundreds of times in my canoeing and kayaking days.

That said do what ever strikes you as the most fun and have a great trip.
I was actually thinking more of the "just outside Ohio Pyle" things. Like Kentuck Knob or Falling Water. BUT, I'm on vacation next week. My wife and I have talked about going to visit those places. It's been years (like 30) since I've been to Falling Water. In fact, I believe it was my 4th grade field trip!

Isn't it amazing how you can live in an area and never see some of the local/ 1 to 1-1/2 hour away places and things? 45 minutes from Pittsburgh and I've never been to the Andy Warhol museum, rode the Pittsburgh incline, or visited Point State Park. I guess when you grow up as a country boy things like that escape you.
