A recumbent trike question

What is the max weight can you put on a rear rack of a recumbent trike without needing a trailer?
I'm thinking about putting about 50lbs of gear in a backpack strapped to the rear rack.

Delta or Tadpole? Build the rack and the rear wheel to handle it.
and that should take care of the issue.. overbuild..
you will, I presume, need a wider longer rack than one made off the shelf exists.

talk to your welding shop.
