classic found on Craig's List
I found a mid-eighties Specialized Expedition the other day. It's a little dirty, but overall it's ready to travel. $250 with racks and panniers. Anyone familiar with this model?

hodadmike, Here's a nice thread: https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...ring-bike.html . Otherwise a thorough overhaul will keep you happy for years to come.

Hodamike - it isn't clear if you just saw it and are considering or if you purchased it. If you didn't already - buy that bad boy. I have one and it is a great bike even if you don't tour. That is a great deal with racks and bags.

At a glance that looks like a good deal, subject to further inquiry and inspection. It would be for a person 6 foot or more, or someone with very long legs.

I did buy it. I've got it broke down and am in the process of putting it back together. Don't know if I'll let my son have it to try touring, sell it, or maybe even replace my Jamis Aurora with it. It measures 60cm so it's a tad big for my 5'11", but I might take a weekend tour with it to see how it works out. Racks are Jim Blackburn, bags are Lone Peak, Silca pump, Conti Top Touring, 40 spoke back wheel, new fenders and good to go.

That was a great deal with the racks and bags. I bought one for $100 a few years ago, but it wasn't nearly as nice as what you got. I put a lot into it. It's now a daily commuter and summer tourer. Great bikes. I rode one in the 80's and have wanted to get one for years. Fun bike, very comfortable. It also has some of the best, smoothest rolling wheels you'll ever ride.
