I really want to give Track Racing a go but the closes track is 2 hours away (Kenosha). I was surprised that the city I live in doesn’t have one (Madison WI) . It’s a huge biking community and heck if the Olympics would have been in Chicago majority of the bike events would have been here in the Madison area but still no Track?
What I’m thinking about doing is an every other week trip for a race. But to convince my wife I will have to start with a once a month race until she is sold.

Kenosha is lots of fun. There's a pretty big 4/5 field that shows up every week. It's definitely worth the drive.

For me it's about 30 miles to Sloten (Amsterdam). I try to go twice a week, wednesdays and saturdays.

There's an Olympic sized indoor Velodrome planned for Cleveland. That will be a 12 mile trip for me.

10-15 minute bike ride.

Been taking a few laps about the velodrome after my bike rides, planning to pick up a track bike and give it a go.
Feels weird riding a road bike on the track and when the track bikes DO show up, I get off the track just out of respect even though I really want to take a few more laps.

3 hours one way to the nearest. But I ride for at least 3 hours to make it worth while and carpool with others to reduce the costs. Chris Hoy I read had his local velodrome in Edingburg but when he needed to ride in Manchester (which was quite often) he commuted 4 hours one way, so I suppose it's all relative. I see this as an upside as perhaps if you are like me, the more you have to work at it and sacrifice, the more dedicated you become (or your lose interest and jump onto something else).

15 miles from the Velodrome at Brian Piccolo Park in Broward County:

https://www.broward.org/Parks/ThingsT...Velodrome.aspx

The other 2 in the SE USA are in GA & NC, unfortunately my relatives don't live close enough for the other two when I go visit. I'm riding over for the first time Saturday AM just to check it out. Amped about this, just got a beginner's track bike, a Vilano for $ 256 and it's set up for the street for now, but with some wrenches and a quick flip flop of the rear wheel, maybe they let me take it out on the track ?

I'm a 20 minute drive from the 200m, wooden and 47 deg banked Burnaby Velodrome.

I really would like to ride on something a bit bigger. One day I head down to Seattle perhaps. The Juan De Fuca velodrome is still nearby on Vancouver Island, but not sure of its fate in the near future.

142 miles from The Superdrome. Fastest travel time was 2 hours 20 minutes (didn't speed too much), and longest was 3 hours because of sucky traffic on hwy 75; I generally plan on 2 1/2 hours and hope for smooth traffic...hahaha, on hwy 75? hahahahahahaha!
