about 15 miles away from Penrose in St Louis, but only 5 miles from work, perfect for the Thu evening race series, get in 3 or 4 races per night.

The closest one is about 66 miles from my house...or 23 miles from my workplace. I've been riding my soho-s in fg on the street since April. I should get a proper trackbike and give it a try, huh?

My club's track (307m concrete track) is 8km away https://www.fixedgearfever.com/module...owtrack&id=768.
In Melbourne (population 4 million) we have 7 outdoor tracks and 2 indoor timber velodromes. Of the two indoor tracks, one is a multi use venue which only gets used for bigger meets such as World Cups. The other is only 13km away and available for training every day with racing Tuesday and Thursday nights year round plus Sunday afternoons during Winter.
Interesting that Australia with a population of only ~22 Milllion has the second greatest number of velodromes, with 97 listed in the FGF database. Only just behind France with 125!

Im 18 miles from Penrose. But I dont drive, and public transport here sucks, so some times I am stuck riding 18miles before a night of racing.

I'm about smack in between one in South Florida and one in Atlanta, GA... both about 330 miles away.
I saw this after I posted! I feel your pain... you'd think that with all of the fixed gear riders in Gainesville we'd have a velo by now. lol

They built the track at California State University - Dominguez Hills (go Toros) for the '84 Los Angeles Olympics. Since they built the Home Depot Center on campus, they tore down the old velodrome and built a new one. I'm about 15 - 20 minutes from there. Used to go to watch the Tuesday night races but haven't been to the track in years.

I used to go down to Encino and Dominguez Hills every week, Wed. and Sat. About 80 and 110 minutes away from S.B. Everyone once in a while, I'd go to Hellyer as well when I'm up in the Bay Area visiting the family. There's been talk of building one in S.B. for decades now, but there's not much support. I think the ice-rink project won.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

When im away at School the closest track is a few hours away. When i am home, i'm in much better position to ride track(which hopefully will be this year!). There are three within an hour of my house. Two in Canada, one here in the states. I live right on the Canada/US border, so traveling to Canada can sometimes be shorter for me than heading down state.

I really want to go, rent a bike and give it a try, but the only one in the state is 250 miles away. I've got to find someone around here who knows the ropes and would want to drive down together.
