Saddle for stationary trainer?

Does anyone have any tips, tricks, or other guidance for when selecting a saddle for stationary training?

I've always just used my road saddles, which are generally of the racing type and which I can ride for multi-hours outside, but inside stationary, become unbearably painful around an hour or 1hr15.

I'd like to ride stationary longer and more comfortably; would changing the saddle type help? Do more thickly padded comfort type saddles help? Is there a rule like "go wider" or anything like that?

Any insight is appreciated!

No, no. Stand every 10 minutes. Since I ride rollers, my "stationary" bike is just my road bike.

I just stand up for 30 seconds every 5 min. Helps break the monotony.

It's true I almost never stand, at least not until the discomfort sets in, and then only briefly enough to get a few seconds of relief and readjust my position. Power and cadence targets dictate my stationary workouts, but even if I can't stand every 5 minutes, I'm sure I can find some opportunites to do so.

I will try to stand more frequently, but I wonder if there are saddle characteristics which would be more comfy beyond that hour timeframe.

I get some form of this question fairly often. 99% of the time it's not the saddle, it's the fact that you're not moving around enough because you're not forced to move around at all. Assuming you have the correct saddle for your anatomy, which it sounds like since you can ride just fine outdoors, chances are that trying to find a different one could end up making things worse.

So try to stand more and shift around more before considering a new saddle.

I certainly get there is a difference in how the saddle is used indoors compared to outdoors, and I'd rather more adapt my saddle to fit my needs than adapt my practice to fit the saddle, if you understand the distinction I'm making there. That's the kind of insight I'm looking for here, if anyone knows anything.

I only do short 20-30 minute interval sessions on the bike indoors...so it's not an issue.

If I want a long ride, I'll bundle up and go outside.
