You know something?
If you workout your butt, you are more likely to build muscle than lose the fat around that area. It is more advisable to shed some butt size by exercising your entire body instead of taht particular area.
If you want bigger butts, then you just have to work it.

basically there are 2 things for the appearance of your butt:
1) lose BODY fat -- your generic tendency to store fat in certain areas determines where it goes, so lowering your overall body fat by doing aerobic exercise and eating fewer calories than you burn --- myth: spot exercises to loose fat in an area like butt or stomach DOES NOT work: you can build the muscle in an area so the fat is less visible b/c of more muscle, but you cannot lose fat in an area through spot exercise
2) increase the muscle size so that the muscles are visible under the fat and give shape
as for special exercises to build muscle:
lunges, squats, leg press
then also stepping exercises like stairmaster or mountain climbing or running stairs (when io use the stairmaster (only sometimes), i put it on the hardest setting and wear a small backback with 20lbs or so)
of course, cycling also builds these muscles too...
you can usually tell if you're work these muscles "right" b/c they get sore really easily (the good sore that means they're growing) - the day after lunges you should probably be sore in the butt even more than the thigh or legs in general

Work has been intense the past few months and between that, family, and riding, fun on the computer has taken a back seat.
It's good to see a lot of the old crowd is still hanging around.
Now, I'll never catch up with people's post counts!
Oh, and, do squats, ride the big ring, stay away from fast food, avoid the TV, for Pete's sake (or LittleBigMan's) get out and enjoy the great outdoors and all your butts will be fine!
