I am starting to see a difference already.

I've had my bike for about 3 weeks now and I've rode about 70 miles total. I was getting ready to go to sleep last night and noticed that my stomach was a little smaller. I'm not big by any means(6' 200lbs) but I am very happy with the improvement. I have also been eating a smaller lunch when I commute and I think that is key to the improvement.

Well, I'm not married yet. The date is 7-15-06 so I'm fighting the norm of gaining weight.

Plus after I'm married, I will have plenty of aerobic excersize if you know what I mean.

Seriously, sounds like a good deal. I lost around 15 lbs in the first two months of biking daily to work. Now, 4 months in, my weight loss seems to have stopped.

I dont know about that. Knowing her, I doubt it'd ever become a chore for either of us.

Naw, buddy. After you're married, your aerobic exercise will go down. Except if your talking about the one handed aerobic exercise. Because that will go up for sure.

I definitely disagree. See, most people these days have it all wrong. They do things backwards. They have sex, then get married. We have held off for two and a half years. So we get married, it'll be go time!

Yeah, maybe so, but you won't get alot of aerobic exercise in 30 seconds.

Boy, talk about a thread going off on a tangent. The way I look at it, even if the "unmentionable on a family type thread" diminishes (as it sometimes does with children, etc.), it can be replaced by something even more special.

You hear that Dolores.

Congratulations on the upcoming event and the increased fitness.

I am the opposite. I have always been in pretty good shape. Have weighed the same for 20 years. I am maybe 10-20 pounds over ideal for my bodyweight, yet the various doctors I have seen over the years think I am nuts when I tell them I could stand losing a few pounds (I definitely could lose 10-15 and not be skinny).

Last 2 years plus I have worked out harder than ever before. Spinning classes almost every day in the off season, 2-3+ hour bike rides almost every day during the road season (I boot it pretty good too).

Went away for a few weeks and could not bike , instead I found an Olympic sized pool and swam an hour a day (all front crawl) with no stopping or resting.

I do not drink any alcohol these days because it triggers migraines. Cutting out booze is supposed to be great for losing weight.

I eat healthy food only.

I have not lost a single pound.

I feel better than I ever have, I enjoy my workouts more now that I am better shape, my body shape has changed a bit (maybe less flab about the middle).

I know that if I really wanted to take off those 10-15 pounds I would have to restrict food intake and count calories.

Enjoy your new biking career and my suggestoin would be to focus on your workouts (frequency, duration, intensity) and don't worry too much about the scale. Many people lose weight quickly when they start working out, then level off or even gain some back, then get really discouraged.

After awhile it's all about the endorphines, not the scale.

My 2 cents

You know, The first year, you put a dollar in the bank everytime you have sex. After the first year you take a dollar out everytime you have sex. When the kids turn eighteen you'll be able to buy yourself a nice Serrota Ottrott.
