Day After Drinking
I rode for the first time after a heavy night of drinking today. It's really the first time I've gotten on the bike after being drunk the night before. I noticed I got really nauseous on my ride. I didn't actually start till around 2:15 so I figured any lingering nauseous would be gone (and it seemed like it was gone). My question is, is it typical to get nauseated after a night like that? Also I should mention this was the first time I took Propel along with me instead of water. It got kinda gross tasting but I didn't really think that was making nauseous. Thanks in advance guys.

I'd say it is depending on how drunk you got. I've found heavy drinking will mess with my salt/total hydration balance and that is what will make me nautious. The best thing you can do is just drink some gatorade or equivalent and take it easy. Oh yeah, and if you want to get better at biking I wouldn't drink that much. But, it all depends on what is important to you.

You don't have to drink that much to get dehydrated. Even if you don't even feel buzzed, you're gonna need to drink at least 2-3 glasses of water before you go to bed to make sure you're not dehydrated. Then you won't feel so bad on the bike the next day.
When I lived with 8 guys on the cycling team at UCSB, we used to party just about every night. Keggers, hard liquor, you name it. We'd have a 2nd fridge just to store our beer! But, we always made the 2pm club ride.

What, you don't do beer runs? Riding with beer is better than riding after.

Meh. Consider yourself luck that you can participate in "heavy" drinking at all. Since college, anything more than about 4 drinks and I'm off-line for the next day. Though many times before "big" rides I'll have a couple of beers the night before. Carbo-loading and all that

propel has that artificial sweetener diet soda taste.. yuck. whayd they have to mess it up by adding the fake sweetness? Isnt there anything out there that is just less sweet? im not on a diet, Im not watching my carbs, Im not allergic to anything, I just want something with less sugar and more refreshment....

propel tastes like *****
if you drink enough you will piss out all the vitamins/minerals etc in your system (ever peed orange? that is all your vitamins and stuff) and drinking will also dehydrate you (that's why nothing taste better after a night of hard drinking--COLD WATER)
I don't drink, but I used to once in awhile and I usually didn't ride the next day

I like that philosophy!
