Cyclist Nodules
As this is the forum most related to health/injury topics I thought I'd ask my question here. I put in a lot of miles and a few months ago I noticed some swelling at the base of my butt and in the crease of my upper thigh between my legs. I stopped riding for a while and it went down. However I get this now after every ride and there's been some fluid drainage and I've developed a hard lump there. There is zero pain and I don't notice it when I ride. It sounds like something called "cyclist nodules" that develop from repeated trauma of the tissue. I'm going to pop along to the doctor to see if some steroid injections might help, but I wondered if anyone's had something similar.

I use butt butter liberally and keep nice and clean, I think this is more of a pressure issue. The lump is a couple of cms in size and below the skin so I'm pretty sure it's a cyst. I'm going to apply some hot compresses for a few days and stay off the bike and then go along to see the doc if it doesn't improve. Has anyone had something similar?

Had the same thing a couple of times. Try using a dandruff shampoo like Tegrin down there when you shower. Always do that, anyway. Leave it on while you complete the shower. I think that helped mine heal faster.
Also, it's probably a saddle issue - a pressure issue, like you say. I went to the doc with one and she declined to do anything about it. Said it would heal faster if left alone. Different saddle, and I don't get them anymore. I need a saddle that only my sitbones touch.

prolly a cyst...
doin steriods most likely would be Nukin an ant... not even considering the serious side affects.
have em lance and drain the thing and do what is needed to let the body do some healin. in some cases diet has an affect on how a body reacts and develops these cysts.
i started applying light dabs of over-the-counter antibiotic ointment down there in the leg folds after rides/showers, after having a similar bout back in the 80's. Haven't had but one real small one since then; which went away after a week of judicious washin and neosporin...
always good to check yourself out thoroughly iff'n you're puttin on big mileage/saddletime
ain't no doc, but this all has worked well for me for the last 24+ yrs.
all that chamois butter stuff and powders do is clog the pores even more.
good shorts that fit, clean & dry chamois (at the ride outset), clean equipment should keep the crud from formin...

FYI,
I saw the doctor and the lump turns out to be more like a bursa than a cyst. The Dr. drained 10ml of fluid
from it (mostly blood) and injected a steroid to help it heal and told me not to ride for a while. The sac has collapsed, but I can still feel the thickened walls. It probably was caused by an injury a while back.
