Skewer that came with Trainer

My Kurt Kinetic trainer came with a skewer, is it safe to use that skewer when I'm riding out on the road? that way I can avoid changing the skewer each time I use the trainer.
Any advice from anyone?

On my backup bike, which I normally use only on the trainer, I just leave the trainer skewer in when I take the bike on the road. It works fine. It's a couple of ounces heavier than the regular skewer, but that doesn't matter.

the trainer skewer is heavier and made of stronger materials to handle the additional lateral forces placed on it from the trainer, therefore it is more than safe to just ride around on
