What workout to do???
Do you ever have one of those days where you want to do a workout but you can't decided what to do? For example...I'm long past the days where I will do two, or even sometimes three workouts in a day. These days I'm usually just a single workout per day. So, day-to-day I just try to rotate through swimming, cycling, and running. I usually end up running 3x per week, cycling 2x or 3x per week, and swimming 1x or 2x per week. But if for some reason I can't get to the pool I debate whether or not I should run/cycle again...OR...just end up just doing nothing because I've alreay done enough of the others for the week.

The way I usually set up training plans especially this time of year is very similar, 1-2x a week for swim, bike, run activities. I also add in a day or two in the gym working on strength not much mainly 3 sets of 5 reps of various workouts with about 75-80% of 1 rep max worth of weights. Focusing on building power, most triathletes and endurance athletes in general do not need to work on endurance in the gym we get enough of that in our sport. If we focus on strength/power in the gym we will be a little better equipped for the season ahead. Also make sure you are having enough rest between workouts, trying not to do two days in a row in the same sport is usually what I try to do.

Ah ... I just let someone else make the decision for me ... when I go to the gym, I dip my hand in the lap pool on my way through to the locker room, if it feels too cold, that means it's a good day to do something else.
WTH? ... can't the $4 billion dollar corporation that owns my gym pay its gas bill?
All joking aside, there are a lot of different training regimens and schedules out there ... Training Peaks is a good iPhone (I assume Android as well) app that gives you a workout schedule day by day and a lot of good data tracking capability if you want it.
