To Pee or not to Pee....
Okay, I'm just going to take this one on head-first. This morning, I did a swim followed by a 3.5-mile run on a treadmill. As ALWAYS, about half way through my run I had the pee-pee feeling come on. Instead of jumping off the mill and heading to the men's room as I always do, I toughed it out. Couldn't wait to hit the head when I was done; rushed in! This happens to me during actual events and I always stopped to use a restroom (only did 3 sprints). So there's where my question is aimed: does anyone here just let it go while on the run whilst in an actual event? Is that acceptable, or just plain grody?

Embarrassing as it may be, I don't think I'm the only person to just let it go during an event. I have to admit I've probably peed during the swim on every event I've done. Never on the bike but a number greater than zero on the run.

You're a brave and honest person Jen. I signed up for my first Olympic event. And today it totally dawned on me: there's absolutely no way I'm going to be able to do the run without having to do a wee bit of wee-wee.

Ya, but it's far easier for you guys than for us ladies. Pretty easy for you to just "whip it out". Bit more of a process for us.

if you are in the running for a top place maybe but if you are just a middle of the packer make a pit stop......I was shooting for a 2:45 marathon in Portland and had to pee mid race and I stopped and I swear it was the longest pee ever and ended up running 2:48......pretty sure it really was not a 3 minute break it just seemed like it at the time........still glad I made the pit stop instead of peeing myself......

Swim - Yes, I can even go without breaking stroke. Bike and run - no. I'm competitive, but not so competitive that I will not take a break to pee. I know a number of more serious (notice I didn't say faster) that will just let'er go when they need to.

It's really a dirty sport, this triathalon thing. There are few sports where peeing all over yourself is expected behavior. The sweatiness of it can also be gross. I did a 5 mile lunchtime run yesterday and my workout clothing was soaked. Now, if I simply place the used clothing in thg he hamper, the whiole bathroom will turn into what smells like an ammonia factory overnight. And I will never be able to get my stink out of the workout clothing. I have to soak, rinse, and hang the clothing, followed by a proper wash to get everything clean. Maybe it's just my greasy Italian genetics, but boy do I reek after s hard workout!

It is a pretty stinky activity. As for me, after a good workout, I tend to throw my sweaty stuff in my bathtub and let it soak overnight with some of these Arm and Hammer odor eliminator pellet things. I rinse them out in the morning and, ideally, run them through the washing machine that day. If I'm not prepared to do a load of laundry just yet, that pre treatment cuts down on the stink getting "locked in" to the fabric.

I like the baking soda idea. You should consider just using the actual baking soda. It's the same thing as the pellets and you can buy a 5 lb. bag of it for about $12.
