Here's a few pictures of the latest mods to my Townie. I added a Brooks B33, Brooks leather grips, Electra bullhorn bars and an Electra frame bag. The slaughter begins on Friday 5/15!!! The paths shall flow red with the blood of the bottomfeeders!!!

To each his own! I see it more as legal serial killing so I don't take out my urges on humans... mostly those under the influence of strong moral indoctrination

My grandpa told me a really good carp recipe once... something about taking a cookie sheet and filling it with dog doo, and then putting the carp on it. You cook it for a while, then throw the carp out.
For the record, comparing the fish to a violent robber is both fair and accurate... they're dangerous for the local fish population, cost resources and leave a taste in your mouth that's comparable to dog doo...
ooooooh I get the recipe now.
Edit: That bow bike is full of awesome, BTW.

Nice DIY solution.
I just ordered a Montana Scabbard. Larry, the maker, told me to reinforce the bottom area that holds the tip of the re-curve with pipe foam/padding, to lessen the stress on the limb of a re-curve. The Montana scabbard is made to support the bow from the bottom, having been optimized for compound bows. I figure I could rig something once I got one on my bike. Right now my re curve's are take-down bows, nothing fancy. But I have been lusting after some nice wood one piece eye candy re-curves, not sure I would give them the bike treatment though.
Where does one learn about bow fishing? Only ponds and lakes near me, not even sure it is legal in my area.

Also, Larry is a straight-up kinda guy - I emailed him before I came up with my personal solution. For rougher riding than I do on a canal path while carrying a bow on your bike rack, his product is surely the best choice.
Yeah, I understand about "eye candy" bows. I have a Tim Miegs longbow that I would never dream of bashing around on a bike. My $50 used Bear Kodiak "Orc Bow" does the trick nicely, though.

Many years ago, a buddy and myself used to carpfish. We would throw all the fish into garbage bags, then we would chuck them into an old chest freezer. By the time black bear season rolled around we had (what we thought), would be a great bear feed. By the time we pulled them from the freezer, drove up north 400-500 miles, made it out to the site, they would still be a little frozen. Ready for the next days hunt.
Tried that two years running. Luck wasn't so good. We switched to a oats/molasses feed from a feed store, and our luck began to change. Later, we added day old donuts (had to go dumpster diving for those) Not exactly sure they were day old, but they were too old to sell, so the doughnut shop bagged the up and dumped them in the dumpster.
I don't have to many pics of those hunts, and the ones I do have are dark, and never have been scanned. However I do have a nice upper body mount hanging in the garage.

Thanks! Yes, in some states it is illegal to put them in the water, however I have not seen that as law in NY (if anyone knows of such, please link it). Any fish I have put in or lost in the water (pulled off the arrow in the brush) was gone the next day - the canal is full of aquatic scavengers as well. I do prefer to throw them in the bushes or corn fields, though. Those are gone quickly too - many hungry things lurk about in the night. "
I found the law, in NY you have to dump the bodies 100 feet from the water, so that's what I do now. We take a little walk in the woods.

Bummer in pa. you aren't allowed to dump fish in the woods which is what I prefer. The gamies will allow you to dump dead carp in a trash can. That could be a smell¥ mess.

The ever evolving Carp Cruiser! To answer the above, the bow is an 80's Bear Kodiak made in Gainesville, FL. It's design is very close to a Super Kodiak of production years before and after but they were just called "Kodiak" at the time. The reel is an AMS Retriever (Original model 310), the fiberglass arrow and 200# test line are AMS as well - it has the new safety slide system which is minimal and brilliant!

Also - I stripped the old bow camo paint off with 90% rubbing alcohol and saw the wood grain for the first time the other day! I bought the bow used in the early 90's and it was painted. It matches the tires and B-33 much better now, heh!

The Carp Cruiser in action! A scale divot stuck on my arrow, a young common snapping turtle on the path! These guys and gals do love to eat dead carp, the water looks like it's boiling when they are tearing apart a fish.
