Bikes: They have two wheels!
Rock on Val. Way to stand behind your guys and your prod. The RJ stand looks like a heck of a product and if/when I upgrade from Xtra to Dummy, That might have to make it to my savingupfor list.

Val, I've got nothing but love for the product and the producers and certainly wasn't trying to step on anyone's toes. I was just pointing out that production is different from fabrication, and I would love to see hefty stands available to more people. Colin's shop is drool-worthy from a I-wish-it-was-mine perspective, but looks a whole lot more like a prototyping shop than a production floor. Perhaps my livelihood developing manufacturing processes has skewed my perspective. Informate! Optimize! Automate! Analyze! Control!

No offense taken, for sure. Colin has been doing this long enough that production is no problem for him; some of the parts are laser cut in large batches, and he has a series of jigs that keep everything consistent. Not to the level of China or Taiwan, but even there these would not be as cheap as some might think. I also truly appreciate the short lead time of getting it locally. Ordering bike parts from overseas typically takes at least three months; I can get mine in two weeks. Love it.

Well this is the beauty of a little curiosity and the search button on BF. Excellent thread and very much appreciated. I am currently doing an Xtracycle build from scratch and just received the Kickback included with my order. I was curious to find any feedback on it and this thread is more than enough information for me to come to the conclusion to return the Kickback still in box. I'll be going with the RJ for sure.

Thanks to everyone here and Vik for your info on the kickback. I'm going with the RJ on my new dummy build and it's helped me avoid buying a kickback. Now if it can just get here the same time as the rest of the parts.

When I do my Dummy build I will throw the money for the RJ. I am currently using the Kickback with my Xtracycle, I couldn't justify the extra cashy money to the pretty one for the RJ stand. Of course, I had no experience with either one of the products. Now that I have used the Kickback I am in a better position to justify why I should throw the extra money for the RJ.
It is a pain to install and uninstall the wide loaders with the Kickback.
It is a pain to use the Kickback with the wide loaders, that is where the remote deployment(of the RJ) rocks.

Xtrajack, I had the same problem with deployment with wide loaders so I added an old bar end from a mtn bike handlebar so I could use the kickback by catching it with my foot. I put an explanation on the Xtracycle wiki. Someday I'll spring for the RJ.

I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering if anyone has any kind of confirmation that the Yuba stand will work well on an xtracycle conversion? I have no interest in buying the kickback and no money to buy the RJ. Thanks.
