I haven't seen or heard alot of feedback either way about the Civia model, but I've been seeing some good deals on it either with or without the top-plate.

I have not tried Civia but tried one that looked exactly the same, marketed under brand name Comus. It was a pretty marginal stand. It wobbled and the steel holding bolt has quickly ripped the threads out of the alu stand. I rethreaded it to a larger bolt diameter and it lasted a bit longer. I was very happy when I could retire it for a better stand.
