Edmonton - riding trails on south-west side???

My wife and I will be moving to Edmonton from Ontario sometime near the end of July. We're mostly looking at homes just outside of Edmonton on the West Side. Does anyone know if there are any good riding trails in this area?

There seems to be a large wooded section near the Devonian Botanical Garden, with hiking trails. Are there any bike trails through this area?

Bikes: have wheels...

I don't believe you can ride your bike on those trails...there are however quite a few trails on the south west side, I haven't riden them in years but they are there...I mostly stick to the road and save the mountain bike for the mountains, once you go ride in Jasper a few times you won't be interested in the city trails anymore...IME YMMV

Sorry for the late reply, I am not sure what is outside of Edmonton, but there is great riding in Terwillegar Park, in southwest Edmonton. Also Devon has branded their town as biketown and there are trails there too, although I have never ridden there.

Thanks for the replies. We've been very busy with our move, so I haven't been checking on this thread. We're only about a 5 minute drive to Devon, and have already checked it out. There are some great riding areas ... although I'm going to have to get in much better shape to bike up the hills by the river. I've heard there are good trails in Terwillegar Park. I'll definitely try it out.

thanks again guys!

I live in Edmonton...and there are numerous Trails throughout the City. You will love riding thru Edmontons River Valley, miles and miles of Trails!

HI guys, I'm also in Edmonton and I'm trying to get into road cycling. I'm 43 and I just bought a bike for the next season.

I wanted to let you know MEC has a free maintenance workshop which might be useful for you. https://events.mec.ca/find-an-event?start[value][date]=2013-11-20&end[value][date]=&type[]=13&activity[]=2&city=+Edmonton

I also have a question.. are you member of any bike club in Edmonton? I'm looking to join a club to go on road trips but I'm not sure which club to choose.

Cheers, and I hope I'm going to meet you in the spring.

This would be a great club to get started with... https://www.bikeclub.ca I joined them last year but do the bulk of my riding solo during the day.

Thank you for suggestion. I assume I'm going to ride solo also because of the schedule I have but I would also like some company. I'll check the site and thank you again.
