of course i get caught a couple times a year in [heavy] rain (obviously more often on the commute back home...) but with some radar/weather observation i usually pick the right bike!
congrats to all

Normally I'd wait for the gravel (mixed with sharp objects) to be cleaned off, but this year I just put in a tire liner and see how that goes.
It's incredible how much easier riding on slicks is.

Hey Beny are your Tioga City Slickers a black wall tire? I remember back when they first came out they were skin wall only. I have always like the tread pattern of those.

Thanks!
I'm refering to the color of the tire walls. Skin wall tires are generally beige in side wall color.
I ask because I like the look of the tread pattern (althought I know it doesn't matter that much) of the Tioga Slickers, however the place on line I want to order from calls them skin wall... I prefer they were all black. If they are I may just order a set, or look for them at some bike shops here.
Well it certainly is spring in Toronto, if not early summer like. 19C (66F) here yesterday

I was able to look at the Tiogas at MEC today, they are indeed all black. I think I may pick up a pair as I like the tread and the 1.5 size. They are even available in a wider 2.0 I believe....
I made it to Dukes and Urbane today. Cool shops.... Now I just need to get to those ones further out like Racer Sportif .

It was a nice shop with lots or drool worthy bikes and equipment
We had a great time in Toronto, we saw a Miami Heat vs Raptors basket Ball Game, Maple Leafs vs Pittsburgh Penguins Hockey Game (both games were sold out), the Phantom of the Opera at the Princess of Wales Theater took a drive out to Niagara Falls, cruised China Town... It was all excellent!

It's snowing very lightly right now..... I think the ground is warm enough that it'll all melt.

It might miss you ... the Calgary/Medicine Hat area just got slammed ... much worse than central Alberta, but we're getting it pretty bad too. I'm guessing maybe 6" of snow already, combined with howling winds. The roads are sheets of ice.

That is the most memorable quote ever
So it's snow just a little bit here today, but I don't think it will amount to anything. I washed my bike yesterday and the free wheel started skipping on the way to work. At one point just block before my building downtown, the FW wasn't even engaging. I'll need to take it apart tonight and re lube it, but I hope I can make it home first
Once it's engaged, it stays engaged, but as soon as you free wheel, it sticks until you can get it to engage again at one point I was making like th eold Fred Flinstone Hobby Horse

So my ride home was interesting. My free wheels pawls would engage intermittently, and if free wheeling, would not engage for quites some time. So my only strategy was to ride as if the bike was a fixed all the way home. I would keep pedaling and apply brakes when approaching stop lights, and time it so I didn't have to stop pedaling. It seemed to have worked!
I'll set about cleaning and rebuilding the FW tonight.

So I rebuilt my back free wheel, hub, and while I was at it, I rebuilt the front hub as well.
There was definitely water in the free hub body that was causing the problems of the pawl engagement. Now it's super slick again
