Not really a winter bike, but it's my road bike in winter mode. Crud Road Racer Mk2 fenders and mountain bike pedals to go with my winter cycling boots (Sidi Diablo GTX - well worth the money!).

The fenders do a good job of keeping direct spray off me and the bike when the roads are wet, although the bike and my feet still get plenty of splash and get gross with salt regardless. One of the better features are how it protects the front derailleur from direct spray as well.

Happy with my new setup with the CX-bike, a triple crank, barends and V-brakes work well. 40 mm wide Marathon Winter is probably the widest tire this frame can take. A bit scary on ice but all in all a very useful tire.

Winter is finally happening here, and I went for a quick ride with my Trek Cruiseliner. Snow really slows it down, but I never got bogged down or lost control. Looks like I finally found a bike that can handle the crappy conditions around here.

Back in Canuckistan and have to say how happy I am to have my new winter beast... there is hardly a lick of snow but there are streets you could skate on due to the ice.

With the DIY studs I forget there was any ice and had no traction issues when I was bringing home 60 pounds of de-icer in my trailer either... figured I should stock up.

Picked up a set of studded tires from CL in October, then of course no snow or even hardly cold for that matter. November, December, half of January. Then Wednesday 53 for my commute home. But what’s this in the forecast? Thursday the snow started to come down and stick to the ground I could hardly sleep with the anticipation of finally getting to try out those studs. Thursday morning just a hint of something in the Air but then by noon it was coming down and accumulating the ride home was fun and the tires worked great, but the best part was the snow kept coming and the temperature dropped even more. Friday morning I awoke to snow covered roads with ice I was like a kid getting his first solo ride, I flew down the driveway took the lane when needed and had a great ride to work with a smile on my face the whole day waiting for the ride home.

My housemate's trike which we use as a community / shared bike... no stability problems on these icy roads and no great need for studded tyres either.

Nice! Is that an Softride flex-stem? THat was the best front suspension available until about geneeration 4 of suspension forks came out.

In the first picture it looks like there is a bike growing in the bushes, and in the second picture it has been harvested

That's the one. I have another one sitting in a box that I picked up a few years ago, waiting to be mounted to something.

My winter bike. Perfect for the trials / snow covered roads around here. 29er wheelset with 40C cross tires, full fenders. Gets me through the snow just perfectly.
