So all these temperature threads seem to be bubbling to the surface.

Tomorrow it's showtime.

Well, in a lame, non-western Canada kind of way.

(No snow, above freezing. In the middle of January. Not. Typical.)

5.7C (42.3F) where I am right now. We eventually hit 17 degrees, the coldest for 18 years early last Saturday morning. It was then in the 40's the next stay, stayed mild overnight. Monday morning, I cycled in to class in the upper 40's and humid-It felt like sauna, just in shorts and a sweatshirt. I think your body must undergo some physiological changes to adjust to the temperature you ride, so if you up it 15 degrees or so, it feels warm.

Ok when the grumps ask me "so what happened to global warming?", may I recommend Finland as a hotspot. Sounds like the warmth just moves around from year to year.

There's some snow in Lapland and in the winter tourist-y places, but the bottom third of the country is snowless. Here's a current map.

Lowest I've ridden in is 18 degrees. With riding wind chill considered, it must have felt like less than 10 degrees (which still isn't much compared to the other temps here).

Still mild (mostly 40's here). Sweated a lot cycling back from the station in long trousers and a sweatshirt in 48 degrees, with a wind. The weather is supposed to turn foul over the next few days though:

Not looking forward to Tuesday's hail showers. Hail is just horrible and should be banned. Looks like I'll be getting blown around a bit though tommorow and Thursday. I should be able to get out Weds afternoon for a nice ride, hopefully in shorts and a t shirt if the sun really is out. (Don't tell me shorts at this temperature are unhealthy because I have my fingers and my ears and you're not going to change my opinion.
The other problem is it's warm for cycling outside, but the buildings are chilly, meaning waterproofs in addition to already relatively heavy clothes, which means I'll probably get to class all sweaty and gross. Much more severe weather further North, e.g.

My personal record is -46 with the wind chill making it feel like -55.
That would be about -67 Fahrenheit for you U.S folks.
We were ice fishing on Tobin Lake and had an old Trek 830 Antelope as our "ice bike".

Right now, it seems that we in New York are in the middle of a cold front (I think). Temperatures have been very low for a few days now (less than 20 degrees), and apparently there is a snow shower in the works tomorrow.

Normally though, we usually encounter temperatures around 30 at this time.

I did do some cycling in -20f and colder, but I try to avoid it. The last time I tried it, I caught a headwind downhill coming into westchester and my left eye froze shut. Tearing it open did something to the duct and caused a bad infection. When it's that cold these days I WALK.

Hey I see you live in Alaska. I used to live in Labrador, the other side of the continent.

I hear ya about the cold wind.
After getting a few bumblebees in the face, I have a policy that whenever I am on something that goes faster than a walk I wear some kind of glasses. Industrial type safety glasses are primo because they are better at shedding winter cold wind.

It rose to an outrageous 13.2C(56F) on Monday here. This is a complete contrast to what we had earlier in the month. My city only got 6.5cm (2.5 inches) of snow, but not very far away, there was 30cm (a foot) of snow in a country not used to the white stuff. It paralysed the city's transport network. You may laugh at that if you come from a cold place but most people here don't have snow tires. One day, the high was 0.1C. Our normal February high is 8.4C, but I got so used to it being cold.
It's been very mild overnight the last few days. It's nice to have weather which obliges cyclists to wear only shorts and a t shirt in the afternoon.
You say an eyelid froze at -20F? Are you telling me you were without eyewear in -29C. That's colder than anything ever recorded even in the most severe Winters in the highlands of this country.
