Changing Hub body to Shimano

Hi,

I've gone thru hundreds of Google searches many of which lead here.... yet unable to get an answer I finally post. I have a set of Shimano R500 Wheels, but it's rear hub has now gone bad. But it's extremely hard to find 24-spoke hubs & right now I don't want to invest in a set of wheels. & where I live - India, coming across decent wheels for the right price is impossible because of the tax. But I was lucky enough to hit upon this Hub

https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/M...?ModelID=37486

But sadly its a Campy, can I replace it's hubbody to a Shimano???. If yes will I need a specific Hubbody??? or just any shimano hubbody will do???

Thanks,
Kaushik

So what's wrong with it? Anything but broken flanges and to a lesser degree bearing cups is pretty much fixable.

As you're stating that staying with 24H is important I assume that you're hoping to be able to reuse the rim? In which case you either need to be lucky, or be ready to pay for a set of new spokes as well.

Ritchey website isn't particularly generous with its tech info, but odds are that it's a Ritchey proprietary body design. It's probably replaceable, but only with another Ritchey body.

You could just use 2/3 of the holes in a 36h hub.

2:1 triplet lacing, which requires a 32h hub and 24h rim.
I don't recommend this for novices, but it's possible.

@dabac - the problem is that the the non-drive side cup has pitted a bit, was gonna change it anyway, but then hit upon this hub.. so thought of giving it a try.

@kimmo & AEO

Yeah I've come across that but didn't really understand much from the pics. The thing is Wheelbuilding in here is dead cheap as much as $1.5 ... & our local bike shop workers are quite good at it even with Roadbike wheels, had build my front wheel up with another Ritchey Hub.

If I could find a detailed way of the lacing then I could try to replicate that with the help of a good wheelbuilder.

well, if you want to try the triplet method

I covered it in detail here: https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...triplet+lacing
