1986 Schwinn Passage touring bike

I ran across what I believe is a 1986 Schwinn Passage touring bike toady. I was tempted to buy it, but I couldn't make a decision and I didn't have cash on me at the time. The price was $150. It seemed in good enough shape and ready to ride plus I am fairly certain it was my size. What do you think about the price? I might sell my 1987 Schwinn Le Tour if I get the Passage. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Here are the catalog pages for the 1986 Passage

If it was my size and in good shape I would have driven the seller to my ATM to get him the cash. Perhaps the deal will wait for you in NE, it would not last where I live. I missed out on one about a year ago at that price. I called 20 minutes after it was listed and was too late.

I rarely see them, so I can't what it's worth, but I'd pay $150 for a decent 25" one without thinking too much about it.

I bought one new, 23"(I believe it was the last year of manufacture) and it's still one of my favorite rides. I've fiddled with the drivetrain over the years, (cogs and chainwheels, made it an 18 speed) but I've never changed those Huret ratchet shifters. I wish I had those on ALL of my bikes. It's a true touring bike, very relaxed geometry, long wheelbase ( I carry a full frame pump BEHIND the seat tube). It's a bike you can just get on and ride all day.

If you find one I hope you have proportions of a T-Rex (long legs and no arms). I have bought an then resold two of them in the 25" size because the top tube was minature in a bike that big (56cm). A lot of the big touring bikes had really short top tubes. I looked for three + years before I found my Nishiki Seral that had a 60cm top tube. Most of the other big touring bikes I had (Passage, Voyageur, Raleigh Touring 18, and Univega Viva Touring) all had under 57cm top tubes.

Thanks for all the feedback. It looks like the consensus is that I should go pick this up tomorrow assuming its still there and I think it will be. I hesitated because I usually don't spend this much for a vintage bike, but thats partly because I don't find bikes of this level all that often.

Well, I missed out on the bike. Thats ok someone got a great bike. I was disappointed, but I found some other good stuff today and some bike parts I have been waiting for came in the mail so I could work on some of my bikes so I didn't stay down for long. Thanks again for the thoughts even though I didn't get it.
