yah I'd say it's a good buy. Campy SR rear derailleur, not sure about
the other components.
I have an 84 Trek and I love it, it's my 'daily' rider.

I THINk the hub is Victory (maybe early Athena). Can;t tell if those are Weinmann or Dia Compe brakes and levers and I can;t tell if the bars are Cinelli or SR. There's a crest there, but I can't see which. It's definitely a good deal...be preapred to spend a few bucks on tuneup/overhaul.

This is actually the second time i have seen it posted. I'm surprised it has not been scooped up; the brake calipers are Dia-Compe, that's a little odd isn't it?

the shape and logo does not look quite right for Vic or Athena looks more like Tipo to me

I think the levers look real lowend for this bike, but the calipers are likely something that was specced on the bike originally. did this bike come with a Super Record RD? I believe lots of companies used to mix and match components to make price points in the '70s and '80s. that is one of the reasons shimano made the big push with the STI (Shimano Total integration) concept and mounted the shifters directly to the brake levers (MTB) and then brifters. I also believe there was a breif legal dustup over shimano only selling complete groups and not just drive trains in the early '90s

it looks like a great bike but needs a bit of TLC and new brake levers. the price is too high for flippers and depending on time of year the weather is keeping others away

Agreed, $230 is a pretty solid price. The only thing I'd replace is the brake levers, but that's because I'm a snob about having aero levers on all my drop bar bikes. I'm not a snob about much, but I just don't like non-aero levers... Plus, the ones on that bike look cheap and probably don't belong anyway.

TCO looks a bit deadly. Plus 27" wheel bikes just kill it for me.

Anything more than $300 would be a bit pricey, but if its a Reynolds 531 tubing, it would be a good ride

This seems like a good deal. Also thers's a very good chance this Trek was sold as framset and built up by either the owner or a bike shop originaly. A lot of Treks where sold made this way in the late 70's and 80's.
