72 Schwinn Super Sport (sort of)
In my quest for an alloy wheelset to put on my wife's mixte I came across an ad for a beat Schwinn Super Sport. Brought it home for $60 because I'd pay more than that just for a decent wheelset, and it looks like once upon a time somebody did a serious touring build on the SS frame. I wonder what stories this thing could tell? Anyway, I'm wondering if the pieces might be worth anything once they're cleaned up. Thanks!
p.s. Pretty sure I'm gonna hang on to the frame and do something with it. Must've been a heckofa bike in its heyday.

That one's worth hanging on to, a lot of the work has been done already. I have one built a bit like that one, it's a nice, reliable bike.

For reference the only things original on that Opaque Blue Super Sport are the frame, fork (headset), brake calipers, seatpost clamp and kickstand. Pretty much everything else has been changed.

After a cursory cleaning I found a Suntour Winner Pro under the grime. That doesn't suck.

A Winner Pro doesn't suck at all. One in that condition can go for about $60 on ebay, maybe more depending on how many teeth the large cog has. Pretty nice sugino cranks another $30, easy. Nice find.

Large cog is 28.
...and the pedals are Shimano 600 toe clips. Strap is faded, minor surface rust and scuffs in the usual places, but that looks like another win.

The barcons are nice and could fetch $$ on eBay. (although I would keep them for the build)
As mentioned, the 600 platform pedals will fetch some more $$. I sold two pairs (independent of one another) on eBay several years ago.
It was interesting to me, that most of the offers on those pedals came from Eastern Europe. They must have been a hot item there 3-4 years ago.

I think this stlye 600 metal toe clips fit on the same stlye 105 and Dura Ace pedals. You might want to check e-bay sold listing for how much the metal clips go for (far better than the plastic clips.)

Good score. If you are going to build it back up, there are a few Schwinn experts here who can help with some of the oddities associated with the frame. A few of them are: 21.1mm stem, 30mm seat tube OD (seatpost clamp and front derailleur affected), BMX headset cup size, and small diameter cable stops (4mm ID I believe).
