Help with this 1983 Tour Winner
Hi
Can anyone help me determine what is the groupset on this 1983 TDF winning bike? In particular I am interested in the brake setup and the cranks / cogs etc?
Thanks for your help...

The crankset looks to be a Mavic and the brakes a likely Mavic branded Modolos. It's likely most of the components on the bike are from Mavic's Pro race group.
VeloBase.com - Component: Mavic 630 (block letter Mavic font)
VeloBase.com - Component: Mavic Super Pro 430, SSC

Thanks that is helpful. I will look around for some of those brakes. Do you think the cranks would have been made for Italian or British type BBs?

The Mavic cranks are ISO square tapper so you can find both Italian and English BB's for these pretty easy.

And, the crank arms, from the same SSC set, are pretty delicate too. Not sure if that damage was in place before I bought the bicycle or if I caused it while riding.
