Thanks, I'll probably add fenders. I sometimes use that bike to haul my grandson around in a trailer on the local rail to trail. I have noticed he gets a bit dirty!

As a matter of fact I have a couple. I just unpacked them from my recent move and finally have the cockpits dialled on both bikes. Put a Nitto 135 on the Maruishi and a Nitto 177 on the Miyata to go along with the Technomic stems.

Thanks. Having really long legs and a short torso for my height makes bike fit a challenge.

That Jack Taylor is awesome!! I walked into an LBS this past week, and there was a black one just like this sitting there looking like it came from a time warp. What a nice bike to look at. So much going on, but not gaudy. LOTS of details to take in.,,,,BD

SaddleUp, your 615 is beautiful! I just purchased a 54cm frame off this board and I'm thinking of getting a Technomic stem for it as well but I'm slightly concerned it will be too tall. Is your stem all the way inserted into the headtube?

aquateen, thanks, mine is a 54 also. It can be lowered some. I raised it to be level with the saddle. It's bottomed out on the Maruishi.

@Saddle Up

Beautiful bikes! They're both elegant and classy- with the right amount of "business" to them.

What are your thoughts between the 177 and the 135?

I went through some of your Flickr pix- great stuff!

Thanks Golden Boy. I really like both bars, it would be hard to choose between them. Luckily I have two bikes ha ha. I like riding the hoods on the 135s. They put my wrists at just the right angle. The 177 feels great in the drops. On the hoods I think they would benefit fom a more modern brake lever that would act like an extension of the hood. I'm comfortable on both but prefer the 135s on extended rides.

Bought this virtually NOS '87 in Ruby Red about 10 days ago. Everything was minty but age takes its toll no matter how well something is stored, so the consumables are being replaced as well as some items I simply prefer over the stock pieces. Rides great & will be a good touring partner.

Will be replacing the middle and granny with new 34 and 24 tooth chain rings to deal with mega-hills & installing Panaracer Pasela PT tires.

not sure how much it counts as "vintage" but I finally finished building up the frame I got from Barrettscv (thanks again!) Just need to hack off the ends of the saddlebag support.

Recently picked this bike up for nothing. It was covered in dust and grime. Had obviously hung or set in a garage for many years. Just gave it a good cleaning and found it to be in excellent condition. The tires still held air, but I put new tires on it, swapped out the handlebars and pedals for some favorites I had on hand, installed new bar tape, and picked up the saddle wedge for $2 from the bike collective. Just need to get some racks and fenders for it now. Surprisingly, the big chain ring is 56t!

I think you made a good choice- Although I hope you didn't sell your stereo system. You've got so much good stuff going on that bike.

I can't even remember the last time I even hooked up my turntable.

Most of the records I love, I got on CD- and since I've burned everything onto the computer- I rarely fire up the CD player anymore as well.

The one thing that I do sort of miss about vinyl is kind of being forced to listen to a whole album. You miss the "art" of music- even the "filler" stuff has stuff you can explore.

Recently picked up this Panasonic PT-3500. In great shape but the rear wheel had a bent axle. A new wheelset would be really nice.

Also... not a tourer, but I'm told a sports tourer (??) Trek 400.
