So you get there - you realize it's a Miyata 1000 with a Brooks flyer for $80 and you stuck the knife in for an additional $12? That is not something to brag about.

I would have handed them $100. That's just how I roll.

I really, really like this frameset on this DS.

Man, it would look awesome with an Athena groupset.

My son's DS is a blast to ride and I could see dear old dad having one as well.

I've emailed a half dozen times and it went on deaf ears.

Maybe one of you south California BF members can negotiate a good deal for yourself, as it has been listed and relisted?

Vintage Della Santa Corsa Speciale

57cm 12 speed.
Columbus SLX frame.

Check out how much they are going for on eBay if you can find them.

It never hurts to ask if the price is negotiable.

It's very poor form. If you're already getting an incredible deal just be grateful.

I tossed them up on Picasa:

https://picasaweb.google.com/1116791...890/BunchaRims

Basic details are in the captions and comments.

I already had an orphan Arc-en-Ciel rim (can't remember where I got it), which I included. I also have a nice pair of Ambrosio Montreal Durex rims I've been meaning to list, so I took a few pix of the pair as well.

Here's what I see in the way of Arc-en-Ciel rims:
  • #1 and #2 have just the black/gold label
  • #3, #4, and #5 have rainbow label and red main label
  • #6 is my orphan rim - also with rainbow label, but slightly different main label, and isn't in as nice shape (certainly dirtier)

@crank_addict and @satbuilder get dibs. The three of us can virtually arm wrestle for the Arc-en-Ciels. If someone is interested in the Ambrosio rims or the Mavic Service Corse, let me know.
That must have been a real hoot to see you riding home with 6 rims on your back...
I was looking for a set of Arc en Ciel rims for a Moto TC build I'm doing, but right now I have plenty of other parts I need to source. Besides, I'm not a good arm wrestler.

Now don't you worry your pretty head, I pay full asking quite frequently. But when such a nice bike has been so misused and abused, I have no qualm about getting it for rock bottom price. With this one I will keep the saddle and most likely give the bike to a friend to rebuild.

I don't know about that name, but you know how it appears to me? On another thread, there is a question of the difference between a good frame and a bad frame. We discuss how if you see painstaking care taken to the small details that don't affect ride, we assume that the hidden areas that matter have received the same meticulous care. This frame looks like all the necessary things were done to assure an excellent ride, good reliability and good durability. The finish is decent, not impressive but maybe you could say durable and respectable.

Hey guys, I was looking at this bike on eBay and decided to perform my due diligence, and stumbled upon this forum. I've seen complaints about $150 shipping a few pages ago, but aside from that, is this a decent price or should I contact them and offer something lower? It ends in about 6 hours.

Not cheap- then again, couldn't have been cheap to build. I see a pretty nice list of parts.

That's a lot of cash, but that's a lot of bike, too. All of the components are top level stuff, and the wheels are really nice, too. I'd be hesitant to fork over almost $4000 to a seller with that low amount of feedback, though. It seems like others feel the same way, based on the fact there are no bids.

If it were me, I'd pass. Too much of a risk. If you're close, wait for the auction to end, then message the seller to see if you can come see it in person and make an offer there.

I had an exchange with him when it was listed a few weeks ago. He is quite stuck on the price and a bit of a prick.

As much as I'd like a Della Santa this one is at the bottom of my comfort range and I'm under scrutiny for the recent purchases, so I let it go.

At least he returned your emails.

As much as I like it, I won't chase it.

I have a couple of friends in Los Angeles that said they would run over and pick it up this afternoon, but I think I'll let it ride.

I don't want to subject them to nonsense.

Especially since I only want the frameset.
