Vintage Steel Specialized Allez - 57cm - $100 (Watertown)

Date: 2010-12-13, 12:43PM EST
Reply to: sale-udd3d-2110589112@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

I have a Specialized 57cm steel road bike that I need to sell. I'm moving. It certainly needs a major tuneup. The shifters need to be replaced and it needs a new quick release on the front wheel, but the frame is in great shape and I just replaced the rear cassette, chain, and front large chain ring.

I used to ride this bike 40 miles a day to and from work, so I know you'd get more great rides out of it. I hate to part with it; the steel really imparts a great ride.

Shoot me an email and we can set up a time to look at it. I'm 6 foot and the bike fits me perfectly.

Date: 2010-12-13, 12:40PM EST
Reply to: sale-69ubj-2110584614@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

I bought this bike a month ago and have ridden it a couple hundred miles and its just a hair to small for me. The bike is in great shape but would fit someone smaller than me (6'-2"). I would be willing to do a trade for a 60cm road or track bike or parts maybe even a large mountain bike or 29er.

Vitus 979 58cm 1987 (I am guessing)

Handlebars / Stem:
3TTT / Cinelli

Fork / Headset:
Vitus / Stronglight

Front Wheel / Hub / Rim / Tire:
Campagnolo Record hubs laced to Wolber with Continental Gatorskins tires

Rear Wheel / Hub / Rim / Tire:
Campagnolo Record hubs laced to Wolber with Continental Gatorskins tires

Crankset / Bottom Bracket:
Shimano 600

Saddle / Seat Post:
Campagnolo Super Record

Pedals / Chain:
MKS with MKS NJS stamps cages

Shifters / Derailers:
Shimano 600

Brakes / Brake Levers:
Shimano 600

Gearing / Chainring / Misc.:
Shimano 600

Oh if you know the kid I bought it off of I would sell it back to him, Nick from Wentworth I lost his info

Looks like a 70's Fuji Finest.

Looks to be the very attractive blue paint.

Looks like a 23" frame, which is my size. (there was no 56cm option)

Looks like I am in the wrong state.

Not sure why, but my copy-paste doesn't allow pics anymore since the site upgrade. Here's a link to this one, instead:

A Shogun Cro-Mo 600 with Shimano 600 components (at least those I can see and readily identify), for $100. In the Seattle area. That, my friends, is crazy-cheap here.

Found this on CL here in TX.

2000 Bianchi Campione w/ 250 miles on the clock. What's it worth so I can possibly make an offer?

Cinelli bars, Campagnolo componets, Easton fork and seatpost, etc.

Thanks. And yes, I know the pic isn't of the "drive side". It's the only pic he had at the time.

Bah! I think I know the gentleman who he's trying to contact. My friends have a running joke about this bike and how many of us have been owners of it. I tried to buy it but it was scooped up from under me. I think I know four people that have owned it. "The town bicycle" jokes are plentiful.

Would someone in the area be willing to facilitate? I'm waiting to hear about a different bike, but this might make for a nice alternative if the other does not work out.

Ah, ok. The town is an hour away from me, I don't know how much extra you would be willing to spend(my gas and material to ship) but I could help. I have my email posted on the facilitators thread so we can take the conversation off of this thread.

Vintage Lotus Road Racing bike. With a TANGE TRIPLE BUTTED LUGGED STEEL FRAME.........Frame size 58cm or 23" with a 32" standover hight. 700c wheels Shimano equipped .......Bike is all original except the seat. Bike is in very good condition. Wheels are true and the bike shifts and rides well....This is a very light and fast bike.............I wiil consider selling the frame fork crank and headset only if you want to build your own bike up......This is a really great bike for a reasonable price......(732) 718-7181....I also have a couple other bikes I have not yet listed .......(732)718-7181....No texts please......Thanks for looking.
