While I know some can do better than that it was still a deal.

If Schwinn had survived there line up would look much like Trek. Paramount would have gone through an aluminum phase and moved to a carbon racer today. Remember PDG? It is possible they would make a high quality steel bike but those number would look much like what Waterford produces today and probably at the same price levels. Custom and niche market manufacturing has never been cheap.

I like the idea of modernizing the Paramount in the factory that produced them with the utmost quality to take the name forward. This bike is worthy of the name and it would be a shame to hang it on a wall. That bike should be ridden.

My Paramount is a bit bigger than I would have liked but still fits. The bike begs to be ridden in the drops and I can stay there with comfort for long stretches. Great bike
The 2008 article about the 70th anniversay Paramount made a point of saying the custom lugs could be made to accommodate any angle. I'll bet you're right; if a buyer wants a horizontal top tube Waterford would probably be happy to oblige:

It looks like they'll have the same capability this time.

Now that there is a picture of a complete frame, I have to admit, my jaw is on the floor!

This is the first 75th Anniversary frame and is built for electronic shifting, so no need for RD & FD cable stops on the down tube. I like the 75th so much better than the 70th.

A classically styled fork in white and polished stainless would look so sweet on this frame!

I wonder if I could talk Mrs. PB into an early retirement gift (about 10 years)?

Still beating that horse?

No worries though, I wouldn't spend $70 on it. Or any other Paramount for that matter.

The 75th looks better in real images than the graphic profile. The pearl white I guess does not get the gold seat tube panel as shown in their blog about when the transfers arrived.
I would not have requested the stainless. paint breaks as shown but it looks pretty good, it would need a full stainless fork though.
There are a few design details I would have done differently, but overall it works.
Not sure I would place an order. but but graphically I like it better than say what Waterford has been doing.

Electronic shifting on a Paramount kinda seems like having the paperboy deliver your email.

One would almost think there was anther motivation...amazing how many negative posts can be made over a frame one isn't interested in.

This thread stirred up some interest for me in Waterford.

I was digging through their Flickr and their price sheet after work today.

I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised at the nice Waterfords available and their attractive price schedule.

I will eventually ease into a custom every-roader in the next few years and the S-22 caught my eye.

Wouldn't that be a sweet way to ride off into the sunset.

I'm thinking retirement present to myself.

$7,000 was the price for the 70th anniversay frameset.

The photo Pastor Bob posted is of the 75th anniversary frameset, and appears to be the Air front/ Stainless Rear version with polished stainless head lugs, seat lug and stays. It's $4,750.

Another forty years for me, at least, though they keep raising the ceiling on this one. But with a steel frameset, it will probably still be there when retirement comes, and ride as good as the day you bought it!

62 is the max for my current position/career but I am already planning for the next 15 years!

We'll see what I come up with......

Two more years until I retire, I have enough Steel bikes to keep me entertained. I'm still building an all Stainless roadbike this December as my Christmas present. It will be built by Terraferma Cycles, sure , it may not have the Paramount decals, but it will turn out just as nice. That waterford looks good, but it's not for me.

Stainless sounds great to me as well, but I would have Dave Anderson build that for me.

The Waterford pictured above is a beauty, but there are so many options.........

Nice bike, nice frame.
I already have a bike.

I think there's something subliminal in the word Paramount or something.

Now there's an idea:

The 25th anniversary of my ordination is next spring. Maybe if I keep regularly using the word "Paramount" in sermons for the next several months the congregation will get the hint.

Sermon from the Paramount.

+1 - I'd want someone with more experience than Terraferma. Also not crazy about the font/decals. I can get a frame from a much more experienced builder than Terraferma at the same, or lower, price.

I'm not sure if Simon is making Hanfords right now or not (he opened a shop this summer), but he would be one of my top choices for a bike. Dave Anderson and Kirk would also rank at the top for me if I wanted steel.
