I thought these only came in black?
I can't ever remember seeing a Competition of any year that wasn't black with gold accents? Is this for real? An early repaint with new decals?,,,,BD

Nice to see pics of the purple Comps. I remember a friend having one in the early 70s but never saw the color in the catalogs. I was beginning to doubt my memory. My Comp is unremarkable black....

About a year ago there was a purple Raleigh for sale on CL near me. I assumed it was a repaint and didn't think much about it after that.

They always seemed to come in black, but they came in other colors too. I have a 1971 in Carlton team colors: white and laguna blue. They came in green, purple, white, and silver depending on the year.
